Hello to our wonderful CB friends! Whimpurr has been a very bad blogging mommy these days and right now she is in the middle of something pretty major but we want all of our friends to know that we haven't forgotten you!!! We hope to be back and blogging at least in time for the Holidays if not sooner! Please don't forget us!
Madison's babies all went to their new homes this weekend. I will surely miss those 6 little babies but they were all healthy and ready to go! Here is one last group shot I was able to get of them!
Madison has already started putting on some weight now that she isn't having to nurse and once I am able to get her spayed, she will also find her new forever home!
Whimpurr's Whim has lots of furry good news to share today! Furst of all, all the babies are doing great and growing like little weeds!
Here is Dolly with her two little 10 day old chunks!
Now, we share Madison's six widdle 4 week old ones with you!
Lastly, we want to share that precious Topeka is doing GREAT! He is almost completely over his URI, only a bit of one runny eye and the ever-so-occasional sneeze! He has even started gaining some weight back! Thank you all so much for the prayers for him!
Today is the 101st post for Whimpurr's Whim and we are happy that we have become part of the wonderfur Cat Blogosphere! We have met so many wonderfur kitties who have equally wonderful beans! In addition to celebrating our 101st post, we are thrilled to share that Topeka has started eating on his own again ... and his dry kibble at that!!! He is eating regularly throughout the day and drinking his water as well. We couldn't be more thankful for this turnaround in his condition! He still is pretty snotty nosed but the antibiotic will eventually knock the rest of that out. Thank you all so very much for the prayers, they definitely were answered!
More good news that we would like to share is that our rescue kitty, Dolly, gave birth to just two baby kittens this past Tuesday, August 11th. Whimpurr wasn't sure if she had stopped labor and would restart to deliver more kittens but it seems that she is only going to have the two. Mommy and babies are doing great!
New mom, Madison, and her six little ones are doing excellent as well! They are really growing and starting to play with one another now. Too cute! So all is glorious here at Whimpurr's Whim and we are so thankful!
We just wanted to let all of our CB friends know that Topeka is still hanging in with us. He is now on an antibiotic from our vet but still not wanting to eat on his own. He is still drinking water on his own so that is a good thing. Whimpurr is still forcing dietary supplements in him and forcing a bit of chicken baby food in him as well but he is not allowing very much of that. He is holding his own, doesn't seem any worse but we are hoping for some signs of improvement soon from the antibiotic. If not, we are very afraid that he will develop fatty liver disease from the lack of eating. It is still a very crucial time for him. Her vet agreed that bringing him in at this point would be too stressful so supportive care at home is what we are doing. Thank you for your continued prayers and good thoughts. Hopefully we will have good news about him in a few days and can get back to posting happy things again!
Our new 17 year old Maine Coon rescue, Topeka, is in need of prayers! He was already nothing but bones when he came here and now the stress of his lifechanging events have made him sick with the upper respiratory virus. As you can imagine, he is not eating at all and that is not good for an elderly cat who already had zero body fat!!! Whimpurr is forcing dietary supplements on him and trying everything she can think of to try and get him to eat but he does no more than take a few licks or small bites then stops. Thankfully, he is still drinking his water a bit each day so that is something. He also still wants love and seems fairly energetic considering all that he has going on. Whimpurr does not want to stress him further with a vet visit. The poor guy has just been through way too much and afterall, he IS 17 years old. She just doesn't feel that a vet visit is going to do anything but stress him further at this point and would not gain anything positive. We are just praying that he can get over this URI and start eating again. Whimpurr would sure love to be able to put some weight back on him and give him a few more years in a healthy body! Your prayers and good thoughts are greatly appreciated!
EDITED TO ADD: Thank you for the suggestions. Unfortunately, Whimpurr has dealt with many, many cases of URI during her many years of rescue so she knows things to try and is even able to medicate and give fluids at home! Antibiotics do not clear up an URI unless it develops into a secondary infection ... it is a virus just like with the human cold so nothing but comfort things really help! *purrs*
We wanted everyone to believe that there really ARE two look-a-like mommy cats here! We can now see that Madison has more orange to her fur and white feet but they still sure are awfully close!
Whimpurr has been helping kitties since 2001. She has taken in and placed over 200 cats and kittens since then. New kits are always coming and going and some of us get to stay here forever! We also have several tailwaggers in our furry family. I'm sure they will show up here on occasion as well!
We hope you will visit often and enjoy reading about our lives and times!
